The Story - How it all began

Kim Rix, founder of The SaVVy ClubThe seeds of success for The SaVVy Club® were sown by founder Kim Rix, long before she knew it herself.  But these early experiences would greatly influence and shape her future.

Kim was adopted as a young baby at only 3 months old. At the time her grandfather was Director of Social Services for Wandsworth and worked with an Indian social worker named Roshan. Although she had been given the birthname Ruby, Roshan suggested that her name should reflect the child’s Indian heritage and Ruby became Kermeen, now known as Kim.
But Roshan’s influence on Kim didn’t end there, although it wasn’t until Kim was 15 years old that they were properly introduced. By this time, Roshan was no longer a social worker. Instead, she and her husband had their own successful business and they were living at Penton, a beautiful tudor mansion in Surrey.
Kim says “I grew very close to Roshan and she was like a mother to me.  She passed away five years ago. I spent a lot of time at Penton with Roshan, sometimes accompanying her to high profile parties. I felt at home in Roshan’s world, comfortable in Penton and equally comfortable mixing with her friends.”

Roshan and Kim at The SaVVy Club Valentines Art Preview Event, 2004Kim wanted to thank Roshan for everything she had done for her and jumped at the chance to help organise three separate parties to celebrate Roshan’s 70th birthday. It was this opportunity that Kim recalls as the moment she was first bitten by the bug for organising parties and social events.
Subsequently, Kim helped Roshan to organise a charity event in aid of the British Forces Foundation to unveil a specially commissioned portrait of Lady Thatcher. The event was held at Penton and attended by Lady Thatcher and her late husband Sir Denis.
Kim’s career continued in office management. But utilising her passion for social event organisation was always in the back of her mind:
“I began researching my concept for The SaVVy Club when I attended a black-tie dinner held at The Lanesborough Hotel in London. I met David, a prominent Irish doctor who lived and worked in Knightsbridge. We talked about my plans to create a social events club for discerning individuals who don’t have the time to organise their own leisure and entertainment. He was so impressed by the idea that he wanted to help me.”
For research purposes, David took Kim to a private party in Suffolk, hosted by a high profile businessman and political adviser. It was the details of the party that most impressed Kim:
“A magnificent marquee, silver service catering, live band and entertainment, gold theme using human statues and a fireworks display to end the evening. No expense was spared. It was elaborate and flawlessly executed.”
With a successful research trip under her belt, Kim’s first trial-run party for The SaVVy Club® was held in September 2003 with David's assistance. He invited sixteen friends and Kim organised a fun night out at Shakespeare’s Globe: champagne reception in Knightsbridge, executive transport to The Globe, best seats in the house, programmes, interval drinks, dinner after the show with carefully selected wines and more cocktails back in David's flat to end the evening.
So what began with Roshan had become Kim’s passion and later became her vocation. But at the time, she was a board level PA in London, working primarily for PWC and KPMG.  During her time with these companies, she organised the busy commercial and social lives of Managers, Partners, Directors and CEOs. One day, a colleague said to her:
“We all have these ridiculously busy lives, but want some fun sometimes – wouldn’t it be great to have someone who has the time to organise the things I’d do myself – if I only had the time”.

The name "Savvystication" was chosen by the founder members of The SaVVy ClubThis was the defining moment that helped Kim make the break. The SaVVy Club® was officially launched in October 2003, offering exclusive ‘things to do’ for those that want to live life to the full but don’t necessarily have the time to organise it.
Since then, Kim has organised and hosted a variety of high-class social events: cocktail parties, wine tasting, Ladies Day at Royal Ascot with a celebrity chef, opera at Glyndebourne, Have-a-go polo at Ascot Park, The Chef’s Table dinner party at Petrus, art preview parties, to name a few.
With so many influences, Kim has always strived to make her events stylish, exclusive and, above all, memorable.
