August is finally here and hopefully the sunshine won’t be too far behind. Celebrate the coming of summer by indulging in one or two of our fabulous forthcoming events. Review

 Arts Club Dinner – 19^th July 2007

This was a date The SaVVy Club members had been looking forward to for quite some time. The evening proved to be the perfect end to an unusually warm and sunny summer’s day.

The evening, at the prestigious Arts Club, began with a tour of some of the paintings on show in the company of long standing member of the Arts Club, Jean-Francois Dor. He had everyone enthralled with his stories about the history of the club and how it was rebuilt after being destroyed by bombs in the war.

After the viewing we retired to the garden to enjoy what remained of the balmy evening with a glass of champagne. This provided a wonderful opportunity to simply relax.

As the sun finally began to fade, we adjourned to the dinning room where we were treated to an intimate candle-lit dinner in the Club’s restaurant.

After dinner we retired to the bar for more champagne and desert wine, when we were joined by other members of the Arts Club. A few business cards were exchanged and the social chatter continued until midnight.

Forthcoming Events

Casino & Dinner at the Groucho Club – Friday 10^th August 2007.

The SaVVy Club is pleased to announce a new and exclusive gaming evening at The Groucho Club.

The SaVVy Club members are invited to meet at 7.15pm at the Groucho Club for champagne and canapés. This is to be followed by an exciting casino evening where you can try your luck at numerous gaming tables. For those of you looking to let your hair down after a busy week, a disco will also be running hosted by a DJ from Magic 105.4.

This superb evening will be rounded off with dinner downstairs in the Brasserie. This evening is new to the SaVVy Club calendar; we urge you to book now as it’s sure to prove popular.

Touring the Square Mile – Saturday 8^th September 2007.

Are you interested in history and architecture? Then you mustn’t miss out on our fabulous tour of the Square Mile with renowned Architect, Ken Allinson. This two hour walk begins at St Paul’s Cathedral. Ken will then lead you back in time as you walk through the medieval streets taking in the history of the City of London from past to present – from Roman remains to the most modern architecture.

This time travelling tour ends on the opposite side of the Thames at the Blue Print Café, Butlers Wharf, for a delicious supper. This exclusive tour is sure to prove popular so book early to ensure your place.

Gilbert & Sullivan Opera with Dinner – Sunday 19^th August 2007.

The Guild of Travel and Tourism have kindly extended an invitation to The SaVVy Club members to join them at the Grim’s Dyke Hotel, for dinner and a performance of the Gilbert and Sullivan Opera, HMS Pinafore.

To make this evening extra special, the Grim’s Dyke Hotel is actually the magnificent former country residence of Sir William Gilbert set in over 40 acres of gardens and woodland. It is world renowned for its performances and proud of its contribution to keeping Gilbert and Sullivan alive in history.

The evening promises to be an elegant feast of opera and dinner. It is sure to be a breathtaking event - a must for all Gilbert and Sullivan fans.
