The VIP treatment

It looks as though summer has finally arrived and to celebrate, The SaVVy Club has an array of fine events to soak up the sunshine. Scroll down for our next set of fantastic offerings.

However, first lets take a look at what SaVVy Members enjoyed (or missed!) in May…

Thames Sewer Tour

SaVVy Member Simon Burrows had an amazing day under the streets of London;

I have always been interested by underground tunnels, and the rare opportunity to be allowed down a working sewer sounded too good to miss when Kim announced it. The event itself was organised by Thames Water for its VIP guests, so we were very fortunate to be allowed to join them for their annual open day at the Abbey Mills pumping station and the Northern Outfall Sewer.

Following a pleasant continental breakfast, we were given an hour long presentation on the history of sewers and waste disposal – the presenter appeared to be London’s leading guru on the subject, and his passion for the subject really showed through!

Beneath ground, everything was fairly dark, despite the lighting, until our eyes adjusted. It smelt very little and certainly wasn’t unpleasant. Some of the usual flow had been diverted away from our tunnel, so that the water level was only just above our knees.

About 95% of the sewage is water, hence the lack of smell.  Fully suited and booted we were in awe of the amazing brickwork, the ornate sluices and gates, and marvelled at this underground world that is normally hidden from view, but so essential to modern life.

Thames Water was incredibly friendly and helpful, they clearly enjoy and take great pride in their work and showing visitors what a vital role they play in the day to day life of London. The visit ended with an excellent buffet lunch.

Wine Tasting Event

This relaxed and informative evening was set in the spacious and classy Campbell’s of London gallery in laid back South Kensington and offered a completely exclusive pre-private view of the new collection from Charles Neal in addition to the wine tasting event.

Starting with fine champagne, the evening offered a highly enjoyable and sociable opportunity to sample some of Europe’s rarest, hand-made vintages – made using millennia-old wine-making techniques.

No strict order was followed as an intimate gathering of guests enjoyed an exquisitely delicious selection of wines from small, quality-conscious premium estates in France, Italy and Hungary.

The informal evening allowed current and prospective SaVVy Club members the chance to sample mouthwatering canapés that complemented the wines chosen, whilst having the opportunity to admire the beautiful artwork on show – and for sale!

Stuart Beitler, the wine expert leading the event made the evening accessible to everyone by appealing to all levels of wine appreciation. A quiz was held to win a bottle of wine and to conclude events; the Tokaji dessert wine was voted the favourite of the night.

Golf Day courtesy of the Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce

The SaVVy Club will be hoping for a sunny day to be able to take full advantage of this VIP golf event.

Held at the exclusive Royal Denham, this is a traditional private members' golf club which has been in existence since 1910. The course was designed and constructed in 1911 and features the unique Denham clubhouse that dates back to the sixteenth century.

The BLCC golf day is an ideal opportunity to entertain your friends and clients in a relaxed and professional environment. The event is completely organised for you - all you have to do is turn up on the day.  Each year we have superb prizes, both for the teams and individuals.

The competition is usually played under the well-known Stableford format with a shotgun start and is organised in co-operation with the London Rotary Club which last year raised over £5,000 for charity.

Ambassadors are expected to attend and prizes will be also be awarded for exceptional playing!

Don’t forget…

Here at The SaVVy Club we are dedicated to offering the best services and rewards for our members. We are here to accommodate as many of your needs and fulfill as many wishes as possible. The Member-Get-Member Scheme and the SaVVy Concierge Service are just two examples of how we offer Savvy members a service beyond limits.
